hello..as the title says i need help I'm here in northern ca [butte county ] I'm new to prospecting so here's my problem.. I'm finding gold but its all real fine gold haven't ran across nuggets, pickers,or big flakes just fine gold.. i took this up to kill some time and give me another reason to be out in the woods and by a creek I'm not looking to get rich but it would be nice to see something a little bigger in my pan at the end of the day

I'm also fairly new at this. I've only been prospecting for about a year now, so I don't know much. Try finding some bedrock where the gold can't penetrate too deep. This is where i find most of my gold. If you can find a good packed crevace and dig it out (or break it open) thats a good spot that acts as a natural riffle. But if the crevace is empty or isn't packed with heavy material it may have already been worked. I don't live in northern, California so I can't tell you any spots that have good gold. I just hope I might be a help to you. Good luck, and have fun. John S.
