Now's the time for you guys to be out checking the water run off's on the Creeks and Rivers your planning to work this Summer. I find that it's a major help in finding those rich spots !!! Dont forget to take your camera so you can refer back to it this Summer !!!
And becareful the banks are water logged and could fall and put you in the water and thats not a good thing this time of year...
Good Luck,
Jeff

I have one problem with checking MY sites at this time. Not only the snows in the mountains, but if I WERE to venture out right now, I would be tearing up the roads with deep rutts due to how watersoaked they are this time of year. If I wait another month or so, the roads will be a lot firmer and there will still be plenty of run-off to "Take a Reading". I can wait,.....after all, I'll have a good six or seven months before the storms send me back indoors for the winter. Just my opinion, O.K.?

Yes I agree with not tearing the roads up thats why I have a Donkey !!![/quote] LOL....Good point. ;D I would have to "Donkey it" for about five to seven miles, so it really isn't practicle for me. By the time I got on site it would be time to turn around and head back. I have concidered horseback with a pack horse though, and make a weekend of it. Sure would make me more conservitive in just what I take along.

My partner checked out our claims last weekend.. Someone plowed the road so we can get to 2 of them, but the snow is still over the cab on his truck. I think we will try to see if we can get down to water so we can start dredging next week.

;Dwell now is perfect for some areas just as these areas with snow will be at a later date , also cause if the snow pack is still there the creeks and rivers arent up to the gravel pushing stages yet

snowed another 10 inches this week and back to below zero temps. Small setback getting in the creek.

Safety is the key. That large boulder that can move and pin you under water is my main concern. Using heavy equipment to move large rocks. Always do a change of direction when wenching, never a straight pull. The tension on cables can be exterme and when bad things happen and the cable parts or slips it will come straight back at you, hence a straight pull.

Sorry, was suppose to put in biggest lesson learned catagory on safety is the key. As far as checking your creek have some locals video my claim when the water is raging in the spring run off. I see all those slow spots that are gone when the water drops when I show up in the summer. It's always nice to be in good with the locals that can give you good information and for a small fee send me video every year.

O.K.,......... Now, I'm goin' to check out some creeks. Shouldn't be too bad below 5,000 ft. elev. I'll be at around 4300 ft. Still some snow on the North slopes though. I have a 3 day weekend and I'm only about 1 1/2 hrs from some promising sites. Can't wait to get outa the house!!!
