I can tell you this,... the coast range is the remnants from the sea floor being scraped off, as the main body of the Pacific plate was being subducted under the North American plate. Most volcanic material is from dead volcanos and cyndercones that were scraped off the floor. The islands that lay only a few hundred yards off shore were once thousands of miles out to sea.
Other'n'at, I really can't tell ya much 'bout the coast range. Pick a nice day and go have a look. ( The gold is secondary. )
Ya just never know, even on a producing claim.

Well Jeff, It's been 7 months and not a word from the guy. I bet he hit it big and disappeared. Heck, I would if I did.

Takin' another trip up this next weekend. Gonna come at it from the other end this time. Don't expect to get into the claim for another couple of weeks. It's six miles in 1 hr., and that's in late May. LOL Got new tires though. ; )

As soon as the weather calms down and the winds stop, I will be renting a helicopter to go visit some claims of mine on the north fork of the yuba near bullards bar, on the middle fork of the yuba upstream from Tyler Foote Crossing, on Kanaka Creek, up near Milton Res and near the town of Washington (but we will fly over the greenhorn creek region too). I am looking for someone who would be interested in purchasing a seat in the helicopter to help me offset the costs. I am planning on being out for 2 hours and my cost is around $1000. I have 2/3 of the cost of the flight covered, but would like to find someone who wants to do some recon for a couple of hours for $330.
If you haven't ridden in a helicopter, it is a gas. This one is a four seater with the doors off. Very exciting and a great opportunity to get some great photos of your claim and surrounding areas (last time I went up I found a small hydraulic mine nearby that no one seemed to know about).
The flight takes off from the Auburn airport and at the soonest I may be taking off on this coming Sunday, weather (winds) permitting. I want the air to be calm, so the pilot will feel comfortable getting closer to the ground. I would also consider taking pictures of your claim from the air for a small fee. I am looking for ways to offset my costs on this flight and I am considering all options.
Email me at mtnblue@exwire.com if you are interested in either seeing your claim from the air or if you want aerial photos. I am not a pro photographer, and if the photos don't turn out then you would have no obligation.

Next Sat, I'm goin' in. Lots of hot weather last week and the next. That should finish off the snow. Can't wait to try out my new "Long Tom". Dang, still can't get in.... There is a culvert that runs under the road and snow cover, about fourty ft out where the snow narrows across the road. My bud and I didn't want to waste the trip so we got out a shovel and pan and ran a couple of pans about 30 ft above the culvert. (We are 800 ft above our claim and 5 miles away.) Low and behold we found color. Well, it's said that gold is everywhere. There is a LOT of run off this year, the streams are running torents below our claim. It should bring down lots of color from the high country. Gonna have to wait another 2 wks, then we'll try again. BTW, those are snow mobile tracks in the snow.

Here's "Tom" set up and running. A couple of pics showing stream flow. It sure is great to be able to get back on the claim!
