glitter, I live in Bakersfield which is about an hours drive to Keysville. The Kern has a lot of fine gold all the way down to Bakersfield. The closer to Keysville the courser the gold. If you do dredge on the Kern be very carefull. It is one of the most dangerous rivers you will ever be in. Every year there are more then one person drown here. Depending on the time you come the water level might be up or very low. Keysville has dry camping and easy access, 2-wheel drive. There are a number of camp grounds close by with hookups. Good luck Tom

Hello, I plan on going to the Kern for a vacation with some family this summer. I was just going to do a little sluice, crevice work. But I might make an Adventures In Prospecting episode while I am at it. When are you guys going to be there? Contact me through the contact info at Prospecting Channel.com if you can to help out with this, even if it just more information replied to this post. Joey
