Hey I wanted to mention that there is an up coming television program the forum members would probably enjoy on the History channel next Tuesday, March 2nd at 9 pm. Its an episode of "How the Earth Was Made" a televison show on geology. This particular episode is called "America's Gold" and is about gold mining in America, but covers everything from the gold rushes of the 1800s to individual prospectors, on up to big mining operations. I spent a day with the film crew last June and they recorded me in a lot of different scenes, but who knows how much of that they actually used (I might be in it for 10 minutes or it might only be 10 seconds!). They also shot a bunch of footage at the famous 16 to 1 mine in Alleghany California, and out at the big mines in Nevada. Anyway, it should be interesting to watch.

Great show! I really enjoyed it! ( recorded it ) One thing that impressed me, Chris, is that you used a "Steel Pan"! LOL Would like to see some info on the ancient river channels too. Maybe next time?

Of course they decided want was on the show and what wasn't during editing and filming as well. I did talk a little about ancient channels, but that stuff didnt make it to the show.
I also had a bunch of pans (I normally use a plastic one), but my old steel pan fit their "concept" so thats what they wanted me to use.

I just got a thing against using a "Plastic" pan. My G-pa used a steel pan, and gave me my first "Steel" pan. Plastic pans feel like toys, and I don't feel serious if I use one. And there is the sound, like coins hittin' the pan in the old slot machines, the gravel sounds like money hittin' your pan. LOL Just my thing, to each his own, I say.
