This is great info if ya wanna save on the cost of gas and oil, and enjoy peace and quiet out on the claim. goldfever.com/g_dredge.htmI used the same principles to put together a gravity fed "Long Tom" sluice.

Hey Steelpan, Are you doing any gravity method mining at this time? I would like to see this firsthand. Also, gravity dredging is legal in California because it is not motorized, right? Joey

I can't get into my claim yet, still too much snow. My claim is at 6000 ft.
As I understand it, any suction dredging is still banned. The ban doesn't specify motorized or non-motorized, just suction dredging. They don't seem to mind the little hand held suckers.
Right now, I will be using my gravity system for supplying water to my sluice. After the ban is lifted my system will easilly convert to a gravity dredge or "Simple Simon", as I've heard them called.
After I get my system set up and running I'll post some pics, and I'll try to do a vid too.
I wouldn't mind takin' ya out to my claim, but you'll have to wear a blindfold goin' in and out. LOL
